Michael Bellion, the creator and developer of HiPAC, has become part of MARA Systems. MARA Systems is now the commercial backer of the HiPAC Project and finances it completely. Together MARA Systems and Michael Bellion make sure that HiPAC is actively maintained and further developed under the GNU GPL.

With MARA Systems the HiPAC Project has managed to find a strong partner that is fully committed to the concept of Open Source Software. Every single product and project developed at MARA Systems has returned all of the changes and improvements made to any Open Source Software back to the community. MARA Systems is and has been actively involved in the development of several projects like the Squid HTTP Web proxy cache server, the Netfilter and Iptables Firewalling project and FreeS/WAN IPSec. They also provide feedback to other projects like the Linux Kernel and Linux Virtual Server / IPVS.

MARA Systems provides a selection of high quality hardware and software products , developed and implemented using innovative engineering techniques. A full range of professional services complement these product lines, including consulting, technical support, and custom software development services.

HiPAC allows MARA Systems to explore completely new approaches to network security because they do not need to worry about the number of rules generated. With HiPAC there are no performance problems even with arbitrary large rule sets. Based on HiPAC MARA Systems has developed a revolutionary firewall that makes it possible to manage large rule sets and segment your internal network.

A large portion of what MARA Systems earns is immediately fed back into HiPAC development and maintenance. By using MARA Systems' products or services you are directly contributing to the future of the HiPAC project.
